The armed robbery suspect fled on foot, and while searching for him, two police cruisers collided.
After a gas station in Randolph was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon, two police cruisers collided while searching for the fleeing suspect, police said.
Around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Randolph police said officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at Prestige Gas on North Main Street. Prestige, a statewide chain of gas stations and car washes, did not return a request for comment.
The man was allegedly armed with a black semiautomatic handgun, Randolph police said. The man is described as a 6-foot-tall Black man wearing a white short-sleeve shirt, blue or olive shorts, black and white sneakers, black gloves, and a blue Red Sox baseball hat over a ski mask, police said. He was also carrying a light gray plastic bag.
The man fled on foot, police said.
When searching for the man, two police cruisers collided at the intersection of Mitchell and Royal streets. The officers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both the robbery and the police cruiser crash are under investigation by the Randolph police.
