What’s new in Greater Boston restaurant openings this week

El Barco
This Martha’s Vineyard taqueria is becoming a more permanent fixture in Boston’s Back Bay, after a successful pop-up takeover of the space that was Summer Shack. You’ll find your typical taco shop food and drink here, like a selection of burritos and tacos with shredded pork and blackened shrimp, as well as five margarita options and other cocktails.
Open now (Pop-up since April)
50 Dalton St., Back Bay
Flour Bakery + Cafe
An 11th Flour Bakery is coming to Greater Boston, with owner Joanne Chang’s sights set on a former JP Licks location in Mission Hill. You’ll find Flour’s famous sticky buns, as well as cookies, pastries, and sandwiches. MassLive also reported that soft serve ice cream will be available, a newer addition to the Flour brand that has become a popular menu item at the Boston Common location.
Opens January 2026
1620 Tremont St., Mission Hill

George Howell Coffee
The beloved coffee and cafe from George Howell joins the lineup of restaurants and shops at the Lyrik shopping mall. George Howell’s cafe menu features a rotating coffee farm of the week, along with iced lattes, teas, pastries, and sandwiches. Customers can also grab a retail coffee for the home, including a Montecarlos medium roast from El Salvador or the La Minita light roast from Costa Rica.

Lab 13 Handroll Bar
A new restaurant at the Chestnut Hill Square shopping center has brought made-to-order hand rolls — sushi wrapped in a seaweed sheet cone — to the suburbs. Guests can choose between single handrolls with tuna, snow crab, and more, or get a three, four, five, or six set of handrolls.

Taste of Allston
One of Boston’s most fun food neighborhoods is bringing all the food to one spot. Food and drink vendors include Sloane’s, Ajeen, a Widowmaker beer garden, and Cafe Weekend. While you feast on some of Allston’s best bites, get a tarot card reading, listen to live music, or check out various community and art vendors throughout Jackson Mann Plaza.
