Weymouth native Charlie Coyle is no longer on the Bruins, but he wants local fans to know how much his tenure in Boston meant to him.

Coyle, 33, was traded to the Bruins in 2019 prior to being dealt away earlier in 2025. He has subsequently been traded again, this time to the Blue Jackets during the recent NHL Draft.

Reflecting on his Bruins career during the offseason, Coyle took to social media to thank Boston fans. He posted his Wednesday message on Instagram.

“I can’t feel anything other than grateful [and] fortunate to have played for the Boston Bruins for 6 years,” Coyle wrote in the caption. “It fulfilled a lifelong dream to be able to wear the Bruins sweater & play at home in front of all my family [and] friends.

“There are so many different people to thank who helped shape me [and] get me to where I am, who gave me the opportunity, and those who cheered me on [and] supported me throughout,” he added. “I owe a lot – but just know I appreciate [and] thank you all! So many great memories have been made that I’ll have with me the rest of my life.”

Coyle originally arrived in Boston after a midseason trade with the Wild which sent Ryan Donato and a 2019 fifth-round pick back to Minnesota. Though he took time to settle in, Coyle rose to the occasion in the playoffs that season. He finished the playoff run with nine goals and seven assists (16 points) in 24 playoffs games as the Bruins made it all the way to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.

His best regular season performance over the course of an entire year came in 2023-2024, when Coyle finished with 25 goals and 35 assists.
