The Patriots are elevating a pair of practice squad players ahead of their matchup with the Saints on Sunday.

Running back Terrell Jennings and defensive lineman Truman Jones for Week 6. With Antonio Gibson out for the season, New England only has two running backs on his active roster — TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson. So it’s likely Jennings will make his season debut against the Saints as the Patriots’ third back.

Jennings is a second-year back that’s seen limited time since the Patriots brought him in in 2024. He had eight carries for 20 yards in New England’s season finale in 2024.

It’s likely Stevenson and Henderson receive a lions share of the offensive reps against the Saints. But along with his availability as a backup running back, Jennings could also figure into special teams play in some way. Gibson played a key role on New England’s kick return unit, and its yet to be seen how the team plans to fill that void.

Jones, meanwhile, could be plugged in as a depth defensive line with the Patriots facing multiple lingering injuries at the position.

Milton Williams appeared on the injury report last week. Keion White has also been nursing an injury and was ruled out of Week 6, as has Anfernee Jennings. So Jones should provide some insurance as a depth option on Sunday.

If Jones does take defensive snaps, Mike Vrabel certainly won’t be worried about him. Vrabel called Jones one of his favorite players when asked about the edge rusher this week.

“We’d be comfortable if we had to play him,” Vrabel told reporters.

Jones made highlight plays during the preseason, enticing the Patriots to retain him on their practice squad in the first place.

The Patriots are 3-2 after a statement win over the Bills, and are looking to win three in a row for the first time since 2022.
