“While the doors were open, the train never moved. … Two passengers exited the train into the track area – they did not fall out, but exited on their own,” an MBTA spokesperson said.

A person was hospitalized with minor injuries after they and another person left an Orange Line train that was stopped just outside a station on Wednesday, the MBTA said.

The incident began at around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, as an Orange Line train was stopped approaching Roxbury Crossing, according to the transit agency.

“The train doors opened on the platform side while the train was just outside the station. While the doors were open, the train never moved. … Two passengers exited the train into the track area – they did not fall out, but exited on their own,” an agency spokesperson said, referring to a social media report that a person “fell out” of the stopped train.

Orange Line supervisors and members of the Transit Police and Boston Fire Department helped the two passengers out of the track area, the spokesperson said. One of the passengers was “conscious and alert” but was brought to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The T’s safety team is investigating, but they have preliminarily ruled out a mechanical failure or an “issue with the train itself,” according to the spokesperson.

“The train proceeded to Roxbury Crossing with all remaining riders safely disembarking from the train,” the spokesperson said.

Orange Line service was temporarily halted, with riders encouraged to use the Green Line to get downtown and shuttle buses used between Forest Hills and Back Bay. Normal Orange Line service resumed at around 4:45 p.m., according to the MBTA.

The train was taken out of service for an inspection but expected to go back into service later on Wednesday, the spokesperson said.
