A person died in Back Bay on New Year’s Eve after falling from the Mandarin Oriental on Boylston Street, police said.

Police responded around 9:41 p.m. Wednesday to 778 Boylston St. for a “report of an individual who jumped from a building,” a Boston police spokesperson said.

A section of Boylston Street was shut down due to the incident, NBC Boston 10 reported, but police could not confirm how long traffic was affected.
