“I hope you guys can learn something today.”

Drake Maye hosts a football clinic: Taking a quick break from his Hawaii vacation, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye made a relaxed reappearance on the football field.
Maye, who has been resting and recuperating after the Patriots’ season, helped lead a recent football clinic at Kealakekua during his trip to the island, according to Conor Langs of West Hawaii Today.
Organized by former University of Hawai’i standout (and Newton native) Rich Miano along with Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP), the event gave 50 local high school quarterbacks and wide receivers (along with three girls flag football players) a chance to learn from Maye himself for free.
Telling the youngsters he’d answer any questions they had, Maye worked with the various position groups. Per Langs, he took the quarterbacks through footwork and throwing mechanics drills (among other exercises), while also spending time helping receivers teaching route trees. The 2025 NFL MVP runner-up also tossed a few passes to the crowd’s inevitable delight.
“Playing at the highest level, I always try to soak it in and try to do whatever I can to get an extra edge, or try to learn something from somebody older than me,” Maye told the group. “I hope you guys can learn something today.”
It’s the latest in a series of clinics that SAP has helped deliver to the Hawaiian population. Other NFL players like Josh Allen and Derrick Henry have also held events.
Ultimately, Maye’s presence was well received, with Miano calling it a “huge win for the state of Hawaii.”
