The owner of Stats, a sports bar in Southie, told Boston.com that they hope to reopen a Stats 2.0 late next year, as part of a mixed-use development.

It’s last call at Stats Bar & Grille, a South Boston sports bar popular during games and Southie Sundays that’s closing at the end of the month.
But do not fret, Southie: In that same announcement on Instagram on Monday, the Stats team said something “bigger and better” is coming, possibly in 2027.
On social media, the bar’s team put out a long statement that encapsulated their 16 years in business, including all the sports events they hosted, the dancing and drinking, fundraising events, and St. Patrick’s Day revelry.
“With the help of everyone that has danced on a chair, dropped a shot glass, or stumbled up the stairs, we’ve run this building into the ground over the past 16 years,” the announcement read. “The time has finally come to start over.”
Andrew Statires, one of the owners of Stats, confirmed that the new restaurant would be a Stats 2.0, but said the team is still working on what from the old restaurant will return and what changes diners can expect. They’re aiming for a reopening of late 2027, but that could change based on how construction goes of a development at the site of Stats’ current location.
Caught In Southie mentioned a five-story, mixed-use development in the works on Dorchester Street. Statires said he and his brother, Jim Statires, bought the building at 75-77 Dorchester St. over a decade ago with plans to redevelop it.
Statires said the project was approved by Boston’s zoning board. According to planning documents, the building will include 15 residential units and a two-story restaurant that will take over the ground floor and the basement — it’s where the new Stats will be housed, Statires confirmed.
Though Stats may be returning, social media users still expressed grief over the news that they would be without one of their Southie Sunday stops for over a year.
“I met a guy here on a Sunday in 2011. That guy became my husband. Fifteen years and two kids later, we’ll always remember Stats as the place it all began,” one user wrote.
“I met my first love here (Guinness) and my second love here as well (Suncruisers),” another commented.
Patrons still have until March 29 — and one more St. Patrick’s Day — to visit Stats until it closes. In recent years, Stats has also expanded with two concepts at Hub Hall: Stats serves American bar food, and Crisp by Stats offers pizza.
