Ferry riders told to expect ‘uncomfortable’ trips thanks to Hurricane Erin

The Lynn, Quincy, and Winthrop ferries could be impacted by rough seas and high winds.

Hurricane Erin may cause “uncomforatble” rides on MBTA ferries this week, the transit authority wrote on X.

Riders utilizing the Lynn, Quincy, and Winthrop ferry routes may be impacted due to high winds and rough seas expected from Thursday to Saturday.

The ferry connecting Block Island and Connecticut canceled rides on Wednesday evening and all rides on Thursday and Friday, according to NBC10.

All high-speed ferries in Rhode Island will not operate on Thursday, NBC10 reported.

Also due to Hurricane Erin, several beaches across Massachusetts are closed to swimming due to expected rip currents and high surf, with potentially life-threatening swimming and surfing conditions anticipated along the South Coast, Cape and the Islands.

Beach warning flags will be posted at impacted beaches: one red flag for high surf and strong currents, and two red flags to indicate the waters are closed to the public.
