We’ve entered the astronomical winter — the perfect time to dream about suntan lotion, kayaking, fishing, and cooling dips into Lake Boon.

The 32,670-square-foot lot for this Cape-style home in Stow includes 71 feet of waterfront access on the lake’s deepest section, known as the First Basin. There is also a private dock.

The main entry to the home is on the landward side behind a white picket fence that leads to a paved stone sidewalk.

Lying beyond is the heart of the home — the updated kitchen. Within its 240 square feet, it houses coal-black cabinets with a glossy finish, stainless steel appliances, and black polished stone tops for the counters and island. The stainless steel appliances stand out against the black cabinets, as do double-hung windows with natural wood framing stained a light honey brown. The sink is underneath the windows and a few steps away from a third window. Flooring is engineered hardwood. The range is electric.

The kitchen connects to the 325-square-foot living room and a sunroom broken into two parts by a dividing wall. The decor suggests a summer respite; the flooring is natural hardwood, the walls are planked with knotty pine, a propane-fueled fireplace is framed by bricks and a wood mantle, and the ceiling is white with two skylights. Adding to the cabin-like feel are the 12 double-hung windows and two plate-glass windows that comprise the bulk of the rear exterior wall and provide lake views across the entirety of the sunroom. In the far corner of the living room is a built-in China cabinet.

There are two more rooms on this floor: the one full bathroom and what can be the primary bedroom.

The main bathroom is accessed from the kitchen. It contains a shower/bath combination behind a curtain and underneath a rectangular window. The walls and shower backsplash are clad in white ceramic tile crowned by a horizontal line of black ceramic tile. The single vanity has a black cabinet topped by a white sink. The flooring is black tile.

Steps away is the door to the primary bedroom. It’s 135 square feet and shares the same decor as the living/sunroom area, with one difference: there is a thin crown molding running around the rectangular-shaped room. There is a double closet with bifold doors covered by mirrors and a single central light fixture. There are three double-hung windows on two exterior walls and an exposed beam crossing the ceiling.

The stairwell is located between the kitchen and the living room. It leads to three bedrooms on the third floor with full shed dormers on the front and back of the home. The largest bedroom is 162 square feet; the others are both 117 square feet. The largest has one window; the smallers have two windows each.

The half bath is an open area with a white porcelain sink and toilet with tile flooring sandwiched between two walk-in closets.

The lower level is unfinished and hosts the laundry area and utilities. But, more importantly, it connects to a 200-square-foot storage area for kayaks and other water toys. From the storage area, a door opens onto the 420-square-foot patio — another major connection to summer joy. Made of rectangular concrete pavers formed in a half moon, the patio is supported by a stone retaining wall that raises it from the sloping yard, creating an excellent vista.

There is a stand-alone two-car garage. The home has central air and forced hot air heat by gas.
