A Tewksbury woman allegedly pushed one Market Basket employee and hit another with a shopping cart during a profanity-riddled fracas at a local grocery store Tuesday, according to police.

Kristin Hartman, 54, is facing charges of disorderly conduct, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot), vandalism, assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shopping cart), driving under the influence of liquor, resisting arrest, and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer.

The Tewksbury Police Department said officers were called to the supermarket at 1900 Main St. shortly before noon Tuesday for a report of a woman yelling, swearing, and causing a disturbance. Officers found Hartman at the store’s customer service counter and learned she had attacked two Market Basket workers, Tewksbury police said in a news release

“When police arrived, HARTMAN struck a sergeant with her hand and kicked an officer while actively resisting arrest,” police said. The investigation allegedly revealed Hartman was also drunk when she drove to the store.

“Upon being booked at the Tewksbury Police station, HARTMAN continued to scream expletives and intentionally clogged the toilet in her holding cell with paper products and her prisoner shoes,” police charged.

According to Tewksbury police, Hartman was arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court and released on personal recognizance with orders to abstain from alcohol, have no contact with her alleged victims, and stay away from Market Basket. It was not immediately clear whether she has retained an attorney.

Hartman is the third Massachusetts woman to be accused of assaulting Market Basket staff this week; two sisters were previously arraigned Monday in connection with an incident at a West Bridgewater location.
