“The fact that I can be a part of Boston sports history in some way, shape, or form means the world to me and I’m really excited to build something in a sports town that means so much to me.”

Boston Legacy FC announced the signing of goalkeeper Laurel Ivory on Wednesday. Per the club, the 26-year-old joins Boston on a two-year deal after leaving Kansas City via free agency.
Ivory, who served primarily in a backup role for the Current in 2025, is Boston’s third goalkeeper signing announced in the last week. The addition of Ivory (along with earlier signings of Hannah Stambaugh and Casey Murphy) most likely concludes the Legacy’s remaining needs at the position as the club continues to build its expansion roster.
“What doesn’t excite me about joining Boston Legacy FC? I’m a die hard New England fan,” she said, per a club release. “Was born and raised a New England fan. The fact that I can be a part of Boston sports history in some way, shape, or form means the world to me and I’m really excited to build something in a sports town that means so much to me.”
Though Ivory says she has roots as a fan of New England teams, she’s originally from Surfside, Florida. She attended the University of Virginia, where Ivory set a record for most games started (100), also helping the Cavaliers reach the NCAA semifinals in 2020.
“We are very happy to have Laurel Ivory join our roster at Boston Legacy FC,” said Boston general manager Domè Guasch. “Laurel already has a fantastic track record in the NWSL and has used her very strong youth national team experience as a springboard to have a solid career here in the league. She has a real connection to the Boston area and is exactly the type of player our fans will connect with. On top of her quality as a goalkeeper, she brings great energy and personality.”
