The Boston Bruins are heading outdoors once again in 2026, with the Original Six franchise set to take on the Lightning at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 1.

And for the occasion, Boston is getting some new threads.

The Bruins officially announced their uniforms for the 2026 Stadium Series on Thursday evening, unveiling a gold-and-black sweater with plenty of smaller details woven throughout the team’s augmented gear.

“Through multiple Winter Classics and of course our club’s 100th  anniversary, we’ve done a lot of retro and vintage style jerseys, but [the] Stadium Series presented an opportunity to do something really unique,” Boston Bruins President Cam Neely said in a team release. “We’re excited to introduce a uniform that combines Bruins toughness and snarl with some really dialed up components and coloring. These sweaters are going to look great under the Sunday night lights.”

Here’s a closer look at some of the details on the Bruins’ new sweater:

A flipped color scheme

The Bruins are obviously no stranger to donning black-and-gold gear out on the ice.

But, these new jerseys represent a reversed color scheme — with gold standing as the primary color.  Given the outdoor venue in the Sunshine State, Boston’s sweaters also include debossed sun rays on the sleeves and on the hem loop label.

The hem label also includes “BOS” — Boston’s airport code — in reference to the Bruins’ status as the road club in this nationally-televised matchup.

With the Bruins and Lightning set to skate at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ stadium, Boston’s jerseys also include ties to the NFL.

The “Boston” wordmark stamped in front of the sweater is similar to the New England Patriots styling, with the Bruins showcasing a larger crawling bear logo — typically a secondary brand — below the text.

The Bruins are also featuring a new secondary logo on one side shoulder — the team’s varsity B with a bear claw slash running through it. That slash graphic element is featured on the jersey, helmet, and pants of Boston’s new uniform.

Linked to New England

The jersey’s inside neck collar also features the abbreviations of the six New England states, representing the larger market that the Bruins represent beyond Boston.

The Bruins’ 2026 Stadium Series jerseys and additional merch related to the outdoor game in Tampa will be available for purchase on Dec. 15 at BostonProShop.com and in-store at the TD Garden ProShop.

The 2026 Stadium Series will mark the sixth time in franchise history that Boston will take part in an outdoor game.

Boston has previously played at Fenway Park (twice, 2010 and 2023), Gillette Stadium (2016), Notre Dame Stadium (2019), and on the shores of Lake Tahoe in 2021 before heading to Tampa in February.

Boston has had plenty of success in outdoor games over the years — posting a 4-1 record in their last five matchups. The Bruins’ lone loss was against Montreal in Foxborough in 2016, with Boston beating the Penguins, 2-1, in the team’s latest outdoor game in the 2023 Winter Classic.
