Celtics star Jaylen Brown received an early birthday present from the City of Boston.

The city declared that this upcoming Friday, October 24th, will be Jaylen Brown Day in Boston. Brown will turn 29 years old on that day.

“It’s official October 24th is Jaylen Brown Day in Boston 🎉 thank you to @mayorwu and the council special,” Brown wrote in an Instagram post. “Thanks to my brothers @juicethegod and @_familyfirst_rp for helping me navigate the city ✊🏿10/24 make sure you look a kid in the eye tell them you believe in them 🛸Plenty of more work to do let’s all contribute more of our time to our community.”

Brown posted photos of himself and his teammates posing with the resolution on his Instagram page. The day will commemorate Brown’s achievements on and off the court.

The four-time All-Star led the Celtics to their NBA-record 18th NBA championship in 2024, capturing the Finals MVP and Eastern Conference Finals MVP trophies along the way.

Wednesday night’s season-opener against the Sixers will mark the beginning of Brown’s tenth season with the Celtics. They drafted him No. 3 overall in 2016.

The resolution also mentioned Brown’s social activism, including visits to multiple Boston Public Schools and efforts to create a Black Wall Street in Boston.

The 7uice foundation, which Brown founded, is focused on bridging the gap for youth in underserved communities through a range of educational and developmental opportunities.

Brown’s sportswear businesses, 7uice and 741, were also mentioned for their retail presence in Boston.

Last May, during a pop-up shop for one of his stores, Brown spoke about how much Boston means to him.

“Boston is home. I’ve been here for ten years of my life. Even though sometimes online or in the media there’s a lot of noise, once you get out into the community there’s a lot of love and genuine connections … that means more than anything to me.”
