New England Patriots
Matthew Judon was cut by another team in the division, the Dolphins, earlier this week.

A former standout Patriots defender continues to bounce around the AFC East.
Linebacker Matthew Judon reportedly intends to join the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Judon was released by the Miami Dolphins two days ago and entered the NFL’s waiver wire.
The Bills hosted the 33-year-old pass rusher for a tryout on Friday, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Judon won’t face his former team in the regular season if he joins Buffalo’s active roster, as the Patriots and Bills have already played each other twice. Buffalo defeated division-leading New England 35-31 in comeback fashion last week in Foxborough, tying the teams’ season series at 1-1.
The longtime defensive star joins a Bills organization with a 10-4 record, trailing just behind the 11-4 Patriots. If the regular season ended on Friday, Buffalo would be the No. 6 seed in the AFC, according to NFL.com’s playoff picture website.
Judon appeared in 13 games for the Dolphins this season, including three starts. He has yet to register a sack in the 2025-26 campaign, but has defended one pass. Judon has nine solo tackles and 19 combined tackles, including one tackle for loss, on the year.
The 10-year NFL veteran spent the 2024-25 season with the Atlanta Falcons after being traded there by New England for a third-round draft pick in August 2024.
Judon played three seasons for the Patriots from 2021-23, where he was a two-time Pro Bowler (2021 and ’22). Through 38 games (33 starts) in New England, he registered 32 sacks, 84 solo tackles, 33 tackles for loss, and forced two fumbles.
Prior to signing with New England in free agency in March 2021, Judon was a star LB with the Baltimore Ravens. He was similarly a Pro Bowler twice (2019 and ’20) during his Ravens tenure.
A little over a year after departing from the Patriots, there’s a chance Judon could face his old squad in the playoffs in a few short weeks.
