A man was struck and killed by a commuter rail train in Manchester-by-the-Sea on Sunday, authorities said.

At 8:19 p.m., a man “intentionally trespassed” onto the tracks as an inbound Rockport train was approaching, according to the MBTA Transit Police.

Manchester-by-the-Sea police saw a man on the tracks in the area between Summer Street and Magnolia Avenue as they arrived at the scene.

The man, whose name has not been released, suffered fatal injuries, according to Manchester-by-the-Sea police.

As a result of the incident, Rockport line service was replaced by shuttle buses on Sunday night, according to MBTA commuter rail alerts on X.
