FOXBOROUGH — Drake Maye and Christian Gonzalez are headed to the Pro Bowl.
Maye has been named one of the three quarterbacks to represent the AFC at the Pro Bowl Games in February, joining Josh Allen and Justin Herbert. The three NFC quarterbacks are Sam Darnold, Dak Prescott, and Matthew Stafford.
The honor is technically not the first of Maye’s career, as he was invited to participate in last year’s Pro Bowl Games as an alternate after Allen withdrew because of an injury. Maye also competed in “Passing the Test” event as part of the skills challenge.
Gonzalez, meanwhile, is one of four cornerbacks representing the AFC, joining Cleveland’s Denzel Ward, Houston’s Derek Stingley Jr., and Denver’s Patrick Surtain II. The two NFC cornerbacks are Carolina’s Jaycee Horn and Seattle’s Devon Witherspoon.
For Gonzalez, the nod is long awaited. The 2023 first-round pick had his rookie season cut short because of a torn labrum and then was snubbed last year. After the NFL released last season’s rosters, Gonzalez tweeted the laughing emoji.

In the final results of the fan voting, the Patriots had six players in the top 10 of their position: Maye (second), Gonzalez (sixth), center Garrett Bradbury (eighth), tight end Hunter Henry (eighth), outside linebacker Harold Landry (ninth), and special teams player Brenden Schooler (fifth).
The NFL has revamped the Pro Bowl in recent years. In October, the league announced the event would now be integrated into the mid-week festivities leading up to the Super Bowl. It is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 3 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center, with a 7-on-7 flag football game in addition to a skills competition.
