The Volvo, carrying an infant, was first hit by a pick-up truck before hitting a third vehicle, the DA said.
A 68-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a car carrying an infant in Haverhill Tuesday night, officials said.
The man was hit by a 2008 Volvo XC90 on River Street near Hunter Avenue just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Wednesday. The Volvo was first hit by a pick-up truck before striking a third vehicle, the DA said.
The man, who was not identified by authorities, was transported to Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the DA said. His identity is not being released pending family notifications.
The driver of the Volvo and an “infant passenger” was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to the DA.
The crash is under investigation by the Haverhill police, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and its Crime Scene Services Section.
