Q: As a health care analyst, I have been fortunate enough to be asked to contribute to several articles.  I also have presented at a well-attended conference. I have been asked to be “quoted” based on my areas of expertise.  I am not sure how I will include this in my resume.  Any suggestions?

A: Congratulations.  Your expertise is in demand.  You should include these accomplishments in your resume!  Including them demonstrates a level of competence in your field.

I would suggest including in a separate section.  You might use a heading such as Publications and Presentations. Here is a suggested format which might work for your resume:

PUBLICATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS

Publications

Dalton A., Sinacole P. (January, 2024), A Statistical Analysis of Gene Therapy and Advanced Stage Parkinson’s Disease. American Journal of Health Care Analysis, Volume 3, Issue 42, 22-25.

Sinacole P. (January, 2024) Remote Work Practices, A Post-Covid Update. The World of HR, 12-13.

Presentations

Electric Vehicles and Impact on Climate Change, Paper Presented at Climate Change Annual Conference, Boston, MA 2024.

The first sample has me listed as a co-author with my colleague Alvin Dalton (alphabetically listed by last name).  Then the title of the publication or the study is provided.  Next you would want to include the publication where the article was featured.  Lastly, specifics about the date, month, volume and/or page numbers should be detailed.  This is a common format for a published journal article.

The second sample can be used for almost any publication, but it is typically reserved for a more informal type of publication like a newsletter or bulletin.  I’ve listed the author, the date, the title of the bulletin or newsletter where it was published, as well as the pages.

Lastly, my third example provides a format that can be used for a presentation at a conference. This is important to include because again it speaks to your credibility and expertise.

Congratulations again!  It sounds like you are sought after in your field.
