The Red Sox outlasted the Detroit Tigers, 4-3, on Sunday to clinch the No. 5 seed and earn a matchup with the New York Yankees.

Boston and New York last met in the postseason in 2021, when Boston prevailed and ultimately advanced to the American League Championship Series.

The best-of-three wild-card series takes place entirely in New York, starting Tuesday, with the winner advancing to face the top-seeded Blue Jays.
