The Michelin Guide has finally made its way to Boston, with the full list announced Tuesday evening as part of the Northeast Cities edition.

The guide was released during a live ceremony in Philadelphia, which also made its first appearance in Michelin. It joined Michelin veteran cities New York, Washington, D.C., and Chicago.

Michelin’s dining “inspectors” spent months eating at Greater Boston eateries, following news in May that the prestigious restaurant guide would finally examine Boston’s dining scene; after all, Boston’s tourism arm paid for them to come

Restaurants can get one of the following ratings: bib gourmand (good quality, good value), one star (high quality cooking, worth a stop), two stars (excellent cooking, worth a detour), and the highest accolade of three stars (exceptional cuisine, worth a journey). Restaurants can also make the guide without receiving a star or bib gourmand recognition, known as recommended.

Boston’s part in the guide includes eateries within the Interstate 95/Route 128 corridor, a total of 27 restaurants.

Only one restaurant was able to snag a star: 311 Omakase in the South End, which received one star. No Boston restaurant received two or three stars.

As expected by those who work in and cover the industry, Boston fared better in the Bib Gourmand category, with 6 restaurants earning the esteemed accolade. Another 19 restaurants made the guide as Michelin-recommended.

A Greater Boston restaurant technically received the first award of the evening, with the Exceptional Cocktail Award going to Mahaniyom’s cocktail program. The Thai tapas restaurant is Brookline also scored a Bib Gourmand.
