New England Patriots
“Drake’s got a long career ahead. I’m sure he’s going to have many opportunities. I’m going to say Matthew Stafford.”

The regular season is officially in the books, and the NFL MVP race is a hot topic in New England these days with Patriots quarterback Drake Maye among the favorites.
Maye entered Sunday’s action with a slight edge over Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford as the favorite to win the award.
During an appearance on FOX NFL Sunday, former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady weighed in on the MVP race, explaining why he things Stafford should win the award over Maye.
“Look, I don’t get a vote,” Brady said. “I think what Matthew Stafford has done this season has been absolutely remarkable. Forty six touchdowns, for any quarterback that’s dream season. He’s been spectacular.”
“Drake Maye on the other side has done some incredible things with Josh McDaniels in their first season together,” Brady added. “Drake’s got a long career ahead. I’m sure he’s going to have many opportunities. I’m going to say Matthew Stafford.”
Stafford threw four touchdown passes in the Rams win over the Cardinals on Sunday. He went 25-for-40 passing for 259 yards with no interceptions.
Maye went 14-for-18 passing in the Patriots’ 38-10 win over the Dolphins on Sunday, notching 191 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.
Stafford leads the league in passing yards (4,707) and passing touchdowns (46). He had 105 more passing attempts (597) more than Maye (492).
Maye leads the league in completion percentage (72 percent), QBR (113.5), and passing yards per attempt (8.9). He’s third in passing touchdowns (31) and fourth in passing yards (4,394).
The Patriots (14-3) are the No. 2 seed in the AFC. The Rams (12-5) are the No. 5 seed in the NFC. The Patriots had the weakest schedule in the NFL, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. The Rams were 10th.
Maye was asked which accomplishment he was the most proud of this season. He picked the wins.
“Yeah, I think 14 wins. That’s the first thing that comes to mind,” Maye said. “Fourteen wins and probably 8-0 on the road. That’s probably the thing I’m the most proud of is going on the road eight times and coming out victorious in all of them. So that was pretty cool.”
“From there, I think just the ability to get a lot of people involved. I think that’s one of the best things about our offense,” Maye added. “We get a lot of people involved. A lot of people catch and pass, a lot of people scoring touchdowns, a lot of guys making plays at different parts in the game, and I think that’s one of the toughest things about ways to defend us. So that’s probably what I’m most proud of.”
The MVP award-winner will be announced at the NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday, February 5th, a few days before the Super Bowl.
